Here are some common terms and parts related to BIPAP machines:
BIPAP machine: Also known as a Bi-level machine, is a medical device that delivers you two levels of air pressure – one for inhalation and another for exhalation.
Mask: The interface that covers the nose or mouth (or both) delivers the pressurized air to you. There are different types of masks available, such as nasal masks, full-face masks, and nasal pillows. We’ve got plenty of options for you!
Humidifier: Is the component that adds moisture to the pressurized air, preventing dryness in your nasal passages and throat.
Tubing: The flexible tube that connects the BIPAP machine to your mask, allowing the pressurized air to flow freely.
Pressure settings: These are adjustable parameters that determine the pressure levels during your inhalation and exhalation. The pressure settings are prescribed by your doctor, based on your needs.
Ramp feature: This function allows the machine to start with low pressure and gradually increase to the prescribed pressure over a set period of time. It helps you adjust to the therapy more comfortably.
Exhalation relief: A feature that makes exhalation easier on you by reducing the air pressure during the exhale phase. It helps lessen any feelings of breathlessness or discomfort.
Data tracking: Many BIPAP machines have built-in or removable data tracking capabilities, which record information regarding usage, treatment efficacy, and other parameters. This data can be analyzed to assess your response to therapy.
